Overcoming Setbacks

Hi everybody,

I hope you had a week full of blessings and healthy, quality time with your friends and family. I am starting my week with the excitement and new projects. New preparation plan and meal plan for my next competition, and a new trainer. I love new opportunities to do better and grow. That’s what life is all about in my opinion.

Talking about new opportunities, I decided to write about setbacks and we can start over.

We all have set backs right? Maybe you are working on a new fitness program and after a month of doing everything right, you get injured. :( What happens then? Do you give up? Give in to the sadness of not being able to do what you are doing before? That can most definitely happen.

If you had the chance to read my previous post, you saw that I also went through many set backs. What my experience now tells me is that when challenge situations arrives, you must be strong to your “WHY.”

Why is giving up after a hardship is not an option for you?

Why is it important to keep going? Then ask yourself “HOW?”

How can I stay true to my goals and even after a challenge arrives?

Here is a hypothetical practical example.  Let’s use the situation below:

I want to lose 10 pounds and feel healthier. Decision was made and I got myself into a fitness program and meal plan. All is going well then I get a serious injury and I can’t workout.

Well of course I will be sad and maybe even thinking about what it is going to happen with all the hard work I had put into this. However, I am positive person and I will ask myself, why I can’t give in to sadness?

My reasons are important to me. I want to lose 10 pounds because that will allow me to be more confident about my life and profession. Becoming more confident will make me be a better trainer to my clients, change more lives, inspire more people and this is my motto in life. My purpose. Giving up is not an option!

Now let me look into how…can I overcome????

Since I can’t workout, I will take care of my nutrition. I will get informed, study, and research. I can also work the part of the body that is not injured. Having fun trying new healthy recipes.

That’s one of the reasons why I am truly passionate about Team Beachbody. The coach network is just a group of people that have figured it out their “WHYS”and now Pay It Forward by helping others to do the same and succeed.

The power to change your life is all yours! You have what it takes. No matter how hard is seems, that is always a way.

Anything Is Possible

So here is my story, everybody has one and I am sure if you look back, you will be able to help someone just by sharing…

As a young girl, until my 8 years of age I was single daughter, the princess. My dad, 25 years older then my mother always protected and loved me like his favorite little girl. Even living in Brazil, a 3rd world country we had a fantastic life and I was a lucky girl that studied in private schools and had all the toys and barbies that I wanted. Spoiled little girl.

When I completed 8 years, everything changed a big crises hit the country and the A#$hole that used to be the president of the country took the savings of EVERYONE in the country to pay the debt of the country. Needless to say we went broke along with millions in the country.

To make our financial situation even harder, my mom got pregnant. :0. The princess life was gone.

By the age of 11 I was working to help my parents. My mom, a fighter got us a scholarship and I studied my butt off on top of work to help with the expenses. When I was 18, I passed in one of the most difficult tests in the country to get a spot in one of the Federal Universities of the country.

When I was 20 years old, another big challenge and loss. My dad passed. I lost my King.
Losing my dad also meant that we lost the apartment we lived in.

My mother was his second wife and that apartment was his just until he was alive then went to his kids of the first marriage. They are to this day, strangers. I have brothers and sisters that hate me because my dad felt in love with my mom and started another family. They didn’t even go to the funeral, they just wanted to know when we would be able to live the apartment.

So, here we are, 2 women and a 12 year old girl, homeless. My only choice was to grow up fast and instead of feel sorry for myself. I had to see things like they were and have a positive attitude even facing very hard times I had to put my school on hold and help my mom even more, working two jobs and we rented an apartment.

After a while I got back to school. Working during the day and studing during the night. I used to take me 2 hours on a crowded bus to get to school. I did it. Got my bachelors in Exercise and Science and Physical Education.

Years later I decided that I wanted to see the world and came to the US by myself without knowing how to speak the language. Fell in love and the rest is history.

I am a happy, healthy, fulfilled, strong 33 years old woman. The bottom line here is that what challenges makes you stronger.

DON’T give up.

You can do anything you want to do in life. Always Fall Forward.

The pictures below illustrates how hard I have worked to achieve my fitness goals as well. Two weeks ago, I stepped on stage for a national level, Bodybuilding competition.

Everything started two years ago when I decided that I would help not only my Personal training clients but as many people as I could, coaching them with the Beachbody programs. The goal was to become the best version of myself and inspire as many people as I could. After a round of P90X, Insanity, Insanity the Asylum, P90X2, Beachbody Ultimate Reset, Body Beast and drinking Shakeology everyday, I felt unstoppable and here is the result.. NPC Bikini Athlete.

Family Weekend

It is Monday and I am so happy to be able to share with you my amazing weekend. I had family in town and it is always great to spend time with loved ones. Specially when they are fun, open minded and you are able to inspire them to try new things that can improve their health and well being.

As most of you know, I am from Brazil. Meat is part of daily diet in my country. Over the years and after some time researching one ways to improve my health, I gave up meat and I am a happy vegetarian.

Eggs still a big part of my diet but I limit myself to dairy once a month or less.

With my in-laws here visiting, we adapted our meals so they could eat meat and I keep my focus on my vegetarian competition diet. :). This past weekend we had a great time bringing our parents to a vegan restaurant. Our intention was to show them how delicious a plant based diet can be. They loved the food and the night served as inspiration for Sunday’s fun in the kitchen.

Every Sunday, we love to just relax and prepare our food for the week. We have enough to bring for lunch on the days we work. This way, we don’t have to get tempted with unhealthy or “unknown” food.

Well, with the help of the family yesterday was the day! The Stars of the day were Zucchini and Sweet Potato Egg muffins and an amazing Ricotta Lasagne.

10 Things You Should Know Before Starting Your MLM Business

When I heard my calling to start my own business while helping others, many opportunities showed up.  Funny how when you are in alignment with your truth, things simply show up.

 I have to be honest, when I joined Team Beachbody as a coach and consequently business owner, I did no research it was an emotional decision. Something that spoke to me because of my love for health and fitness.

 Today after one year and 4 months with Team Beachbody I am happy to say that I was lucky and I picked the right one. :). All 10 facts are true when you join the team of coaches.

Thinking of all of you that might be considering start your own journey as a business owner, I decided to work on this post.

There are a few network marketing opportunities that are just scams. There are far more that may be well-intentioned, but have a poor track record, for any number of reasons. So how do you separate the wheat from the chaff? Here are ten tips to help you pick the right network marketing opportunity for you:

1. Has the company been around for at least 5 years?

If you want the efforts you put in today to pay off for many years in the future, choose a company that has proven that it will be around for the long term. 90% of all network marketing companies FAIL within their first 2 years. You don’t want to invest your precious time and resources (not to mention your future) in something that may not be in business next month, do you?

2. Is the company well capitalized?

In other words, does it have the cash that it will need to grow, to maintain a solid infrastructure, to attract talented management, to keep pace with technology — and, of course, to pay your commissions! (I prefer publicly traded companies because they’re required to disclose their financial condition in DETAIL every 90 days to the SEC and other governmental agencies. You may not be able to obtain this information on a private company, so you’ll be taking a risk on its financial condition.)

3. Does the company offer products or services that are unique?

That is, they’re not readily available elsewhere (especially at a discount) and they’re not just another “me too” product that has loads of competition.

4. Is there a genuine need for the product or service?

You’ve probably heard horror stories about people ending up with a garage full of expensive water filters – the reason that happens is because only other distributors will purchase the product at that price! Your product or service must fill a REAL need at a fair price – and there should be a large untapped market for it. In other words, it MUST provide tremendous value, so the customer is the biggest winner.

5. Is the product or service trendy or a fad?

You can’t build long term residual income (i.e., your retirement!) if the product or service only has short term appeal (e.g., beany babies, etc.). Think long term instead. Is the product or service something that your customers will continue to use for a long time?

6. Can you generate immediate income?

So that you can finance your marketing and expansion efforts from cash flow.

7. Does the marketing system take full advantage of technology?

Not everyone is a sales type, but ANYBODY can plug into a system and tools that do the selling and sorting for you!

8. Is the person who is introducing you to the opportunity committed to YOUR success?

If they are, the company is strong, and the product or service is a winner, (and, of course, you’re willing to learn) you WILL succeed. There’s a big difference between a “sponsor” and a “recruiter.” A sponsor coaches. motivates and trains and a recruiter just signs people up and in most cases, abandons them.

9. Is there a way to build your business part-time without losing your full time income?

The company must have automated systems that can do the heavy lifting (i.e., selling and sorting) for you so that you can use your limited time efficiently.

10. Will you have FUN?

Although this may not be an element of your current JOB, we think it’s important! You should have a lot of fun with your business partners while you work together to build a long term business and your financial army.

So there you have it — ten criteria for selecting a superior network marketing opportunity. Of course, even with a great company, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. You WILL have to work! But, with the right opportunity (unlike your job), it won’t have to be forever!

Join My Adventure To Happiness

Would you Join me? Today is a really happy day for me.

Not for any specific reason, only because I am feeling happy. Actually to be honest, many things happened this year that I am proud and happy with. It is incredible how little positive things that you do really have a compound effect that leads you to an extraordinary outcome.

I’ve learned so much in 2012.

2013 is promising!

I am looking forward to inspire, teach, grow and challenge myself to become an even better version of myself.

Most of the great things that happened with me this past year are directly connected with the fact that I have found my life’s purpose. I want to inspire people towards greatness and success. Physical, Mental and financial success.

The best of all, I know that I can fulfill this life purpose because I KNOW that I can really do anything that I set my mind into it.

I also have the tools to make this happen. Beachbody’s coaching opportunity, has given me everything that I need to get it done. Since I became a coach, I am healthier, fitter, stronger, more knowledgeable, I am an entrepreneur, a leader, an inspiration.

For the next couple weeks, I will be looking for 5 people who might have the same life purpose. I am on a search for business partners. People that have big dreams, those dreams are so big and so important that you would move mountains to achieve it. I am looking for someone who wants to make a positive impact on a friend’s or family members lives but first they want to help themselves.

Want a New Start?

Are you tired of feeling tired or being out of shape? Tips to start a new phase in your life.

Dear friends in health,

I can’t tell you how many times during conversations with friends and Personal Training clients, I have heard this line on the title of this post. The truth is, I can relate to that situation.

As a Team Beachbody coach, we are encouraged to work on ourselves every single day and this is definitely another reason why I enjoy what I do. During many of my Personal Development readings, I found something that said and caught my attention. It said that the moment that you find yourself on intense dissatisfaction with your work, weight, health and relationship it is that very moment that you have to take action. When that moment comes you can’t let it slip it away. This is the optimal time to do something, anything towards a different outcome.

How would this thought apply to your fitness journey? Well, at the moment that you feel unhappy with your body or the way you look in the mirror, take action. Change one little thing at that moment that will walk you towards the right direction. It does not need to be something monumental but rather a small decision that will lead you to another positive action. The sum of those steps will eventually produce REAL CHANGE.

Tips on how to take action RIGHT AWAY:

  • Decide (and commit) that this week you’re going to have steamed veggies or a salad with a lean meat instead of eating out or having your usual lunch. Take it day by day. Next week, you can make even better choices.
  • Decide that this week you’re going to go for a 30 to 45 minute walk and do it.
  • Decide to cut back on sugary drinks, for example. If you are having 5 cokes a day, then cut back to 3. Going cold turkey may work for some, but not for all. Sometimes cutting back gradually will keep you on the path to better health.
  • Make a list of 5 things that you need to stop doing or cut back on. Depending on what these items are, commit to stop doing or cut back on one of these things daily or weekly.
  • If you are familiar with Beachbody products and own one of them, commit to working out tomorrow and then get in touch with your coach so you can get the support you need.
  • If you don’t know where to start, get in touch with me on Facebook and I’d be happy to help you get started. I run 30-60 and 90Day Challenges that will help you lose weight, give you accountability and support in a group, online setting. But you have to send that email. The idea is to ask for help! It has to come from you first!

The most Important of all, Believe in yourself! Big changes and transformations can’t happen over night, it takes time, commitment and patience.

Lentil Walnut Burger

Since I had pizza Saturday, I decided to be “bad” and have a “burger” on Sunday. It feels so good to have pizza and a burger on the same weekend and still feel good about my choices. I <3 healthy food. :)

Ingredients:

2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil

1 small carrot, finely chopped

1/4 cup chopped celery

1/2 cup chopped button mushrooms

1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts

1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley

1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/8 teaspoon cayenne (optional)

2 cups cooked brown rice, divided (Learn to Cook: Brown Rice)

1 1/2 cup cooked lentils, or 1 (15-ounce) can lentils, rinsed and drained

1 egg, lightly beaten

Method:

 

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add carrots, celery, mushrooms, walnuts, parsley, thyme, salt, pepper and cayenne. Cook, stirring frequently and until softened, for about 5 minutes. Then transfer to a large bowl.

In a food processor, purée 1 cup of rice, lentils and egg until smooth. Transfer to a bowl with vegetables, add remaining 1 cup rice and stir to combine. Form lentil mixture into 10 to 12 patties, using about 1/4 cup of the mixture to make each one.

Preheat the oven at 375 degrees F. Arrange half of the patties in a baking dish and cook, flipping once, until golden and crisp, 8 to 10 minutes total. Serve hot with a side of Sweet Potato “Fries” (Crispy Baked on the Oven)

PER SERVING:240 calories (100 from fat), 8g total fat, 1.0g saturated fat, 30mg cholesterol, 220mg sodium, 27g carbohydrate (6g dietary fiber, 2g sugar), 9g protein

Grilled Vegetable Pizza

Hey ladies and gentlemen, 

This weekend was a lazy one in terms of cooking. Saturday night, I was so tired after running 6 miles, as part of my training for my half marathon, that I decided to stop by Whole Foods and get a pizza! Of course that it has to be a healthy pizza. So, here is the recipe for you:

Ingredients:

2 cups small broccoli florets

2 cups thinly sliced zucchini

8 thin slices red onion

1/4 cup vinaigrette dressing

2 medium heirloom tomatoes, thinly sliced

2 (8- to 9-inch) frozen cornmeal or other pizza crusts, thawed

Pepper to taste

1/2 pound shredded Vegan Cheese (Soy Free)

2 tablespoons mixed chopped herbs (such as basil, rosemary and oregano)

Method:

Heat a grill. In a grilling basket, grill the broccoli, zucchini, and onions, brushing with vinaigrette dressing and turning often, until just tender.

Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 425°F. Arrange tomatoes on the pizza crusts, then arrange grilled veggies on top of the tomatoes. Season with pepper. Mix the feta cheese with the fresh herbs and sprinkle mixture over the vegetables. Bake until cheese is browned and vegetables are crisp, 15 to 20 minutes. Transfer to a cutting board, cut into slices and serve.

Nutritional Info:

PER SERVING:250 calories (130 from fat), 14g total fat, 7g saturated fat, 40mg cholesterol, 740mg sodium, 23g carbohydrate (3g dietary fiber, 7g sugar), 11g protein
